Signs of hope
There are signs of hope in the long term: the energy sector
is an important customer and a maj or sector of the economy in
the UK. The new British government will be keen to develop a
comprehensive strategy for industry.
This will include ensuring an affordable, clean and
secure energy supply. There will be investment in wind parks
, solar technology, the power network,
and possibly also nuclear power stations.
This will create manypportunities for German exporters to supply goods and services,
also in relation to the issue of energy saving: many houses are
relatively old ( 66% were built between 1919 and 1990) and in
need of modernisation ( e. G. Wiring, electrical installations, light-
ing) .
