— The third feature of corporate Germany is the DAX companies that operate
globally and employ around 3.5m people domestically.
They account for one
in every twelve jobs in Germany even though many employ more people
abroad than in Germany. Some of these major publicly-listed corporations
are still counted as family companies because of their special ownership
structure.
BMW, Continental, Fresenius, Merck and Volkswagen are some
prominent examples.
