All forms of industry are represented

Almost all forms of industry are represented within the broad-based German
economy. As befits a country with high employment costs but with a well-
educated population and a well-trained workforce, the most exciting prospects
today are offered by industries in the forefront of technology and by the
providers of sophisticated technical, commercial and financial services.

Agriculture and tourism are less significant, although they are of social and
cultural importance, especially for the preservation of living and recreational
standards.
