Europe is abandoning the revenue model
Germany leading transition
Europe is abandoning the revenue model based on high energy
consumption and low energy prices.
Industry is facing a transition
to greener and more energy-efficient products and processes.
Germany leads the way in this transition, and has set the bar high
with its Energiewende. Some important long-term goals (2050) are:
• 80-95% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions;
• 60% share of renewable sources of energy in energy generation;
• 50% increase in energy efficiency;
• a significant increase in R&D efforts targeted at these areas.
It is important that the Netherlands connects further to these
initiatives. A more unified approach should lead to further integration
of the energy markets, more effective integration of infrastructure and
greater collaboration in the field of renewable energy and energy
innovation.
