The employer and the employee are generally free to agree on
the terms of the employment contract. However, this right is
limited by mandatory laws (Gesetze), ordinances (Verordnun-
gen), collective bargaining agreements (Tarifverträge), and works
agreements (Betriebsvereinbarungen).
