willing to reinvent themselves
German companies:
Innovative and (if necessary) always willing to reinvent themselves
The rise of Germany as a hub of industry in the heart of Europe more than a
century ago was built on the achievements of inventors and entrepreneurs such
as Carl Bosch, Gottlieb Daimler, Friedrich Engelhorn, Friedrich Krupp, Carl von
Linde, Ferdinand Porsche, August Thyssen and Werner von Siemens – to name
but a few. They brought their innovative products and processes from idea to
mass market and in doing so laid the foundation for an enduring story of
success.
Global patent statistics confirm that Germany has been a driving force in
innovation over the past 50 years too. In the European Commission’s annual
Innovation Scoreboard, the most comprehensive index of its kind for Europe,
Germany is the only major country to be classed as an innovation leader. For
example, German companies regularly have higher private and public research
expenditure and are more innovative than companies in other populous
countries.
